Child Soldiers: Before and After

Before They Become Child Soldiers After They Escape Or Get Freed From The Rebel/Government Armies
They have a home with a family then they are taken by an army.
They escape or get freed and they become homeless because war killed their family and have no place to live.
They are street children or orphans and they have no choice.
Since they have no parents, they are easily taken by another army just as they were before.
They are poor and want to escape so they run away from home.   After they escape or get freed, they get rejected by their family and friends and society for what they have done, which leaves them and homeless.
They are child brides or doing domestic labor for a family and they want to escape. After they get rejected from their family and friends and even society, they could die or get sick because of war-related diseases.
They live in rural areas and are illiterate or uneducated so they have no choice. Gets rescued by an NGO and sent to rehab centers, where they get counselling and education. If not, they are rejected by society because they are uneducated and go back to being a soldier again.
They live near combat zones  and they are pulled into war.
After they escape they are either shot and injured by a rebel/government army or rescued.

 Why They Become Child Soldiers

They are put into armies like this:

  • They are abducted.
  • They volunteer (mostly from 14-18 year-olds) because they are poor and want to escape from poverty or to seek revenge.
  • They have run away from home.
  • Family tradition/peer pressure.
  • They are drugged.
  • Orphans or street children so they have no choice but to go when asked.
